  • I was fortunate enough to catch the grand opening festivities of the Mob Museum on February 14th (Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, how appropriate!) and visit the actual museum during opening week. On my first visit, I enjoyed every minute of it. I've been into learning about organized crime since I is a teen, so this was heaven for me. Today, I visited the museum again with one of my friends, but I had a slightly less than enjoyable experience. I won't go into great detail, but I'll provide some pros and cons about this place and compare the differences between my first visit to my second. PROS - $10 for residents! Resident or not, you might want to check out the museum's website prior to your visit to see if discounts on tickets are available. - Tons of information about organized crime presented in different mediums, ex: plaques, short documentaries, games. - Museum is interactive, ex: there's a room where you can go through a simulated shootout against hooligans and the occasional innocent bystander (oops!) CONS - Ticket and wristband checks. This somewhat irritated me. I don't recall showing both wristband and ticket when I first visited the museum. Seems inefficient to show both wristband and ticket. Pick one. - Some of the interactive games with touchscreens weren't functioning properly. This is understandable considering the amount of visitor traffic the museum receives daily, but it was difficult to interact with the games since the screens weren't responding whenever touched. TIPS - From my experiences, the best times to visit are before noon and a few hours before closing time. - Not sure if this is still available, but if you do a Yelp check-in here, you receive a 10% discount on gift store merchandise. It's worth a try! - The parking lot could get full. If this happens, I'd suggest valeting at one of the nearby casinos. Despite the minor issues I had, I'd still return. The Mob Museum is still one of the best museums to visit in Las Vegas.
