  • Arrived at Gaucho for lunch, just after noon, and the line was already out the door and around the corner. I had heard so much about this place but apparently missed the concept, because I was very skeptical as to if this place could really be worth it. This is not a traditional sit-down style restaurant; you order your food at the counter upon walking in and are then able to choose a seat (they do have an outdoor courtyard area, but with the heat we chose to stay indoors) where you will be served/cleaned up after. Thus, while the line outside is a little inconvenient, it moves quickly and is very deceiving of how long you will have to wait. I was still skeptical of this style of dining at first, but for lunch it was great! I was very overwhelmed with menu, mostly because everything sounds so good and all the salads/sandwiches/sides are very reasonably priced (approx $10 for a sandwich; there are a few bigger ticket items on the menu such as their paella and vaca (meat) platter, but by the sounds of it they would make it worth your dollar). The staff is very friendly and helpful explaining the menu and making recommendations. I decided to take a healthy route and got the argintino salad, which is the same as the gaucho salad but with more (this took me a minute to understand upon first look at the menu). You can pick really any cut of meat to add, and the host helped me decide on the flank steak. I guess I wasn't really paying attention to what I was reading, because when it came out I was veryyyyyy pleasantly surprised that their were also potatoes on the salad--like an Argentinian play on a Pittsburgh salad with fries. My guest got the bondiolo sandwich, and said it was the best sandwich he's ever had--even though I only got the smallest bite, I would probably agree. I wish I had more time in Pittsburgh to go back and try some of the others! We left absolutely stuffed, excited to finish our leftovers later.
