Italian certainly wasn't my first thought when visiting Montreal, but W&G proved to be a worthwhile endeavor. The restaurant is large (two floors), yet has a surprisingly cozy aesthetic. The menu offered a great variety of options with room to customize. I ordered an off-menu linguine in white clam sauce and wasn't disappointed at all! The pasta is fresh but the linguine was thicker than expected. Flavor of the food is terrific and the bread is served with Pesto (very exciting)!
I found the service to be a bit off. Our waiter wasn't very attentive and kind of grunted responses to us. He did accommodate when I asked for a non-menu item but was just generally not very gracious or kind. We also waited nearly 20 minutes for our check after asking. There just wasn't much urgency, but it isn't anything to hold against the restaurant. Would go back for the food, in hopes of getting better service!
