  • I have been coming to Paymon's on and off for 10 years, but that is about to become more "off." I hope the manager/owner reads these Yelp reviews and takes action. I stopped in for lunch yesterday a little after 1 pm, hoping to beat the lunch rush. The inside dining area was only half occupied. The hostess disappeared to seat a party of 3 and didn't return. Finally, a young man, still chewing food, emerged from the kitchen and showed me to a table right next to the hallway to the restrooms, which was heavily trafficked. The waiter didn't show up for what seemed like an eternity. When I was about to gather my things and leave, he arrived.. After he delivered my order (cup of soup and side of Athens fries), I didn't see him again until I happened to catch his eye over by the counter separating the cooking area from the dining room. He came to the table, dropped the bill and fled. I work nearby and have a limited time for lunch. I usually like to quickly check the bill and hand the waiter the money in one contact event so I can leave. But waiter had vanished. As I was about to take the money to the front, he reappeared. The entire experience took about 45 minutes. As a single diner with no one to converse with (and ordering just 2 small items), that is far too long. Were the wait staff eating their lunches in the back? Had they run down the street to see Lady Gaga? At any rate, if I do return, it will be strictly for take out. The owner was recently quoted saying that if construction on light rail on Maryland Ave. was approved,, it would ruin his lunchtime business. Instead, he should worry about his servers ruining it.
