  • In response to what I'm guessing is wild popular demand to shoot machine guns, The Gun Store has recently expanded its shop. I had been to The Gun Store once before my last trip to Vegas, and my husband and his father used to go with almost every trip. Neither of us "like", or own guns. But you don't have to like guns to like The Gun Store. Here are the best parts about The Gun Store: 1) You get to live out your fantasy of being an action hero. The gun I chose to shoot was an Uzi, and the target I chose was a zombie. It is always a good idea to be prepared for the zombie apocalypse. Or starring in a movie about saving your fellow man from the zombie apocalypse. 2) The staff is very knowledgeable. The staff who prepares you to shoot fully equips you with safety equipment and gives you a complete safety run down. And the guys working the counter in the shop section last time I was there were both former law enforcement. I really wanted to get my sister, who just moved to her first place on her own, some pepper spray. Typical protective older sister. One of the guys told me that in fact pepper spray was illegal in California, and that I shouldn't buy it for her. 3) The Gun Store is very popular, and a totally unique experience, but it's not a tourist trap at all. It's not gimmicky or cheesy, and the people who work there are just ordinary people. Here are the worst parts about the gun store: 1) They supposedly stop taking people 45-60 minutes prior to closing. That seems waaaay too early to me. 2) They are not close to anything, and taxis don't just happen to wander by there. So if you don't have a car, you have to call a cab, wait 20-45minutes, and hope it shows up. 3) The targets changed from the last time I was there, but some of them are still pretty bigoted and offensive. The ones that stood out to me were a stereotypical "terrorist" (dark skin, black and white head scarf, and camouflage), and a "bank robber" (black with a ski mask). While I know that there is a lot of xenophobia in the world, I just wonder who thinks to themselves, "Yeah, I want to kill that human being I don't know!!!" *Shudder*. So if you're done throwing away all your money on gambling and you don't like thrills that come from plummeting through the air 135 stories above the strip, I would highly recommend The Gun Store.
