| - New to Cleveland. Looking for a new stylist. REVIEW BASED SOLELY ON CONSULTATION.
I went in today for a consultation because I want to get a light brown / blonde balayage and a shoulder length haircut. My hair now is medium-long and dark/ash brown (natural).
I was perfectly on time. Walk in. Staff greets me, and I am seen almost immediately.
I brought tons of pictures of what I want--or variations of it--and was informed that she could not do it. She said she could not get me that light of a brown, which I didn't really like/understand, but I am not a hairstylist. I didn't go to school for this or know much about how hair color works, especially since I have never dyed it before.
The reason I am writing a review is because she kept suggesting colors that she could do, which were not that close in my opinion to the pictures I had shown her. When I told her I didn't want those tones, she said something like, "Well, caramel brown wouldn't really work with your hair." (Not in a mean way or anything. Nice lady.)
By the end of the consultation, we had agreed upon some colors that she suggested, and she told me it would be $200. That's kind of when it clicked, "Wait... I'm going to pay $200 for a haircut/color that I don't actually want...?" I feel like I went in with my vision and booked an appointment with hers.
I am going somewhere else for a secondary consultation just to confirm what she had said. I will come back and update if I come back here or go somewhere else. First time dying my hair, so I am on the cautious side.
Edit: Went somewhere else.
