| - We stayed here for 2 nights on a trip to Montreal for the U2 concert. We had no intention of spending time in the hotel, but having one that was so accessible and walking distance to Old Montreal made this place absolutely perfect.
Its pretty dead on the weekends since you are placed in the business center of Montreal, but you are only a short walk away from Vieux-Port (Old Montreal) and there are numerous bars, restaurants and art galleries where you can lose yourself for hours.
The hotel itself was fastidiously clean. They let us check in a few hours early (huge plus) and we were given a room with an impeccable view of the harbor.
Perhaps because my friend had a business connection with Intercontinental, we even got a small box of cupcakes and a complimentary bottle of sparkling water on our first night there.
The absinthe bar downstairs is only patronized by people staying at the hotel, so make sure you like the subject of whatever conference is going on. We were there during a shipbuilding conference of some sort. I did not try any absinthe but we did grab some post-concert food here... it was incredibly overpriced $12 for nachos and $11 for chicken tenders as I recall. Convenience won us over, alas, and we ended up ringing up a huge bar tab late night both nights of our stay. (By huge, I mean $170 on Sunday... I wasnt a huge part of that but my husband and his buddy sure were!)
I checked out the gym but my legs were sore from dancing the night before so I didnt work out. However, the equipment looked new, but be forewarned that there is not much there. The pool was nice but indoors, however, I discovered a small sitting area outside of it with a table, chairs and a few lounge chairs. Good to know that was there, would have been a nice spot for an outdoor picnic lunch.
All in all, solid hotel in the business district with good service.
