| - Yesterday, I had oral surgery (the removal of two upper molars) removed by Dr. Gass. Before the procedure, he explained everything to me that would be done and I signed two forms, one talking about the procedure and side effects and the other of a similar nature.
Once in the operating room, I was set back in a chair, administered with nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas", and Dr. Gass placed EKG monitors on me to keep an eye on my heartbeat throughout the procedure. He then, with the aid of his assistant, got my IV in my arm and going. Next thing I knew I was out cold and could only hear bits and pieces of what Dr. Gass and the assistant were saying.
20 minutes later, the surgery was done and I woke up a bit groggy and woozy. He said the procedure was over and that the teeth came out easier than he anticipated, especially the severely impacted one on the left side of my mouth, as it was in deeper and never grew in like the one on my right side did, although the right one only came in about 1/4 of the way.
Dr. Gass has a wonderful chairside demeanor and is very friendly. He has a great sense of humor too and had me laughing a bit before the surgery, so i felt at ease in his care.
Afterwards, I felt nauseous and got sick, which is not a surprise, as it tends to be a side effect from any type of oral surgery. Dr. Gass and his assistant made sure I was okay and coherent enough before they released me to go home and wrote me a prescription for Norco (the generic version of Vicodin).
I recommend Dr. Gass to anyone in need of tooth extraction or other oral procedures. He is very professional, approachable, and thorough and does the job right. His staff is very friendly and they make sure you are well taken care of.
