| - I only give this one star because I like the location. I have lived here for 7 months and have had nothing but trouble with management, if you can call them that.
Our first issue was the appliance situation in the apartments. If we wanted to spend an extra $50/month we could have had updated appliances (i.e. not from 1980). But we were told that the whole complex had recently remodeled all of their apartments. I thought a complete remodel would include appliances, but apparently not. If the just included that cost into the rent then no one would be any the wiser and we would all have updated apartments. That seems like a scheme to get more money from people.
We did a walk-through of our apartment before moving our furniture in and noted some cosmetic, as well as some safety issues we had with the apartment. We were told by the manager that maintenence would fix the problems that week. We were missing screens on some of the windows, the laminate flooring had bubbles in it, the bathroom didn't have a toilet paper roll attached, the master bathroom sink had a loose handle, the closet doors in both bedrooms didn't have a floor track, they were just hanging from the top. While these things don't seem like such a big deal, it is when maintenance takes 2 weeks to respond to them. We stopped by the leasing office many times during the work to be done on our apartment (as suggested in the responses to the bad reviews on here) we were told that a call had been put in to maintenance and they would be responding soon. If you are the manager, shouldn't you have a little more control over what your staff does, and when?
After getting these issues taken care of, to the best of their ability ( some of the window screens still don't fit and the bubbles in the floor can't be fixed without tearing up the laminate and starting over) we had about a month without any problems. Then came the new and improved security system and cosmetic upgrades to the complex.
The pool was to get new chairs. Wow. It's like Christmas. And the gym was going to get new T.V. screens, but access to these places were not allowed during the work that was being done elsewhere, (like the expensive windowed front of the leasing office. When we again went to the leasing office we were told that these were extras and we would not be compensated for not being able to use them. I specifically moved here because of the amenities that I am paying for. Sometimes the gym and the pool would be locked up like Fort Knox, for reasons unbeknownst to me. However, we moved on and waited patiently for work to be completed. We received many notices that promised completion dates that simply were not accurate. This would be no surprise to anyone that watched the crew jump from one job to the next, leaving many seemingly simple projects left unfinished. In my experience, it is easier to start and finish one job, than to do many at once.
Now that those areas are open, the problems still persist. When trying to use the very old gym equipment, I notice one of the machines had broken weights on it. When reporting it to the office, the young lady I spoke to said "Yeah, we know". When I asked her if it was going to be fixed she shrugged and said "I don't know". Then the manager yelled from his office that new weights were being ordered. How is it that your staff has no idea what is going on at the place they work. And why would you think it would be acceptable to be so blasé about our problems. I get that you probably don't live here, so it's not your major concern, but we do. At least pretend to care. But I have noticed that the girls in the office want nothing more than to be left alone, always.
Now the security system. Without going into detail about the construction and the chaos that caused, lets talk about the lack of need. The walls around the complex are very short and easy to climb over. I know, I have done it. The gate that backs up to the grocery store is closed by a simple chain that provides no security. So why do we have a gated community that is the antithesis of what a gated community is supposed to be; impenetrable, safe. In addition to the lack of need, the gates don't work properly all the time, regardless of what management would like to say. I have come home many nights to find it partially open, as though it is stuck. Also the locked doors up front were not locked many times. I know this because I go on a nightly walk and I've never had to use the key FOB to open a door. Also, it's not so dangerous an area that would require such fortitudes, or partial fortitudes.
While I'm sure management will respond with
"Thank you for your review. Please stop by the leasing office and we can address the issues you have. Our community is gated and we are proud of it. We don't have to provide you with amenities. Blah, Blah Blah."
I say, I have been to your office many times, and you guys don't care. Renter Beware!
