Went to the VU restaurant recently. My wife and I shared appetizers for our meal. We ordered the Shrimp in a lemon caper sauce and some wings. The food was tasty especially the sauce for the shrimp. The wings are not spicy but had a nice flavor and came with what looked like fresh made blue cheese dressing, which was good.
The bartender was our server and she was good, never letting our drinks run out and checking on us from time to time.
The view is quite nice as you are looking over the desert out toward Mesa.
The atmosphere is really just a sports bar with a patio. The bar dominates the space and there are several TV's at the bar. Tables made from barrels surround the bar.
All that said, I find the prices high for what you get. $16 for four shrimp and $9 for 5 small wings. If this were an upscale restaurant I could see the reason for the prices but not at what is essentially a sports bar. If the reason they charge more for the food is the view, then it's not worth their prices, it's Fountain Hills, there are great views everywhere.
