| - Having lived in Las Vegas for over 14 years, I felt the need to post my thoughts on a past reviewer's observation and comments, as well as share a little bit of history regarding the four major casinos in Las Vegas that have shows featuring water.
One reviewer stated that the Wynn's Le Reve show is a copycat rip-off of the classy Bellagio's "O" show and that the lame Lake of Dreams free water show is a cheap copy of the Fountains at Bellagio, although in his opinion, was better than the Sirens of TI at Treasure Island. This person stated that these four casinos seem to have a fascination with water including the Mirage's volcano show.
Well first of all, if you did not know this bit of history of the Wynn, Bellagio,Treasure Island, and Mirage Casinos: Steve Wynn built ALL of them and is enamored by water displays, thus the creation of Lake of Dreams at Wynn, Fountains of Bellagio at Bellagio, Sirens of TI at Treasure Island (started out as a pyrotechnic sea battle of the HMS Brittania and Hispaniola pirate ship at Buccaneer Bay which became a sexy show called Sirens of TI, now defunct), and finally the Volcano at the Mirage. These were ALL from Steve Wynn's creative mind. Also, both the Le Reve show and "O" (French word Eau, meaning "water") were from the world renowned Belgian theatre director Franco Dragone who also assisted with Celine Dion's show at Caesar's Palace at the Colloseum. Franco Dragone has worked with Cirque du Soleil on it's beautiful artistry shows, and Le Reve is one of his works of art along with "O".
Soooo, if you are wondering why Le Reve is very similar to "O", now you know. Also, when the Sea Battle at Buccaneer Bay was operating, it was one of the most watched and favorite free shows on the Las Vegas Strip. It was an absolute must see with the canons firing loud booms and finally sinking the British HMS Brittania that actually sank, actors and all! The pyrotechnics were astounding.Too bad it was turned into a cheap thrill girlie show, which deservedly so, was axed. Please bring back the Pirate Sea Battle TI!!
The name Le Reve was chosen by Steve Wynn after his favorite Picasso painting, named The Dream, which translated in French, is Le Reve. Now you know!!
