I brought my 15 year old daughter to Sylvan after she had to take a few month off of her freshman year of high school due to mono. I had home schooled her during her illness, but she still had to take her finals at school. I knew math was her weak area, and Algebra was her nemesis.
After testing, it was revealed that my daughter had the math skills of a seventh grader. Yet, we only had three weeks to get her caught up with her Algebra lessons and prepare her for her final (even though it had been six months since she'd attended.)
The staff at Sylvan was wonderful, sympathetic and understanding. The teachers were AMAZING. They taught my daughter different methods to learn the concepts. My daughter mentioned how weird one of the teachers was, whom sang his lessons to her. She said as she was taking her Algebra final at school, she found herself singing the songs in her head.
The training was a success! The staff was as excited as we were that my daughter had passed! When we originally started going my daughter was leery about going. Now she asks for tutoring when she needs help. She's doing wonderfully! Worth every cent!
