| - I recently heard a radio spot for Diamonds Direct, touting their fantastic customer service - lifetime free cleanings, sizing, adjustments, etc. This prompted me to write about my experience with this establishment.
My husband purchased a diamond ring for me, for our anniversary. Stunning piece, and fantastic customer service up to and including the sale. There was a small issue with the ring being sized improperly. Apparently it was minor, and the staff assured my husband that I could bring it in anytime and they'd take care of it free of charge.
Once I actually brought the ring in to be taken care of... well, it was a different matter entirely. I spoke to the head of customer service and explained the situation, showed him the ring, along with the receipt and paperwork. He actually gave me a hard time because the ring had been purchased a year prior. Taken aback, I wasn't quite sure what to say and offered to pay for the work, even though it had been promised as part of the sale. Then, he mocked a comment I had made. At that point, I asked for the ring and paperwork back, and left the store. It was embarrassing and unprofessional. Upon hearing this, my husband made a phone call, and made certain that the ring was taken care of himself.
Granted, Diamonds Direct has a lovely inventory, and their prices compare nicely to the competition. However, we won't be returning.
