| - It has taken me 5 years to finally visit here, but the best things in life are worth waiting for!
After scoring a reservation for a Saturday night, my husband and I Lyfted our way to Downtown, had a couple of slices at Pizza Rock, played tetherball at Goldspike, then eagerly waited in Commonwealth for our hostess to walk us in. I loved the ambiance and quiet nature of the speakeasy - you couldn't hear anything really coming from Commonwealth and you could barely hear the street noise from the wall facing the street (covered with newspaper clippings). Aside from the thoughtful menu and delicious drinks, we loved the popcorn they served! It's a perfect mix of what I think is caramel corn, jalapeno cheddar popcorn, and Nerds? Whatever it is, I had 3 bowls of it. It paired really well with all the drinks we were served. Our bartender was knowledgeable and genuinely cared about his craft. He told nearby patrons to keep their voices down when they were getting a bit too frat boy-like, which I appreciated. I think at most there were less than 10 other guests present during our visit so they really do space out reservations to make sure the vibe they are going for is sustained. I never had to wait too long between ordering a drink and receiving it. Although the bartender emphasizes not ordering drinks based on spirit, I thought all the tequila-based drinks I had were top notch. It's quality over quantity here, so if you have budget conscious friends who are looking for happy hour specials, I would take them elsewhere. They only take reservations for groups of 4 or less. Anything larger, you will have to book the space for a specific minimum. And for those of you eager to document your every experience on social media, you are out of luck. As other reviewers have stated, there is no photography in The Laundry Room. It's really nice to go somewhere though where people are actually engaging with each other and not thinking about their next social media post. So if you have an itchy Snapchat finger, be warned.
