The Annex Wreckroom is definitely an interesting place and has it's good and not so good qualities.
As someone looking for a night out, it can be really fun! There is no cover, cheap drinks (at least on Saturday night there is), cheap coatcheck if you require it.
It also has the power to make you all sentimental about the 1980s due to it's VERY retro interior.
I went there this past weekend after hitting up another bar and it was a fun place for my friends and I. We grabbed some cheap drinks, downed them and hit up the dance floor for some serious dancing.
The music selection was great! They did a great mix of 1980s classics (both rock and dance genres), 1990s one-hit wonders and current stuff we love getting down to.
As a venue for a concert, I find it is not always the best. My business partner tried to put on shows there but it is hard to attract people off the streets because the entrance is not apparent. Also the stage is not very central inside the bar, so it is not the focal point for the audience.
The Wreckroom is a good place to hit up as a second bar of the evening or a good place to start off if you want to keep more money in your pockets.
