| - Confusion is a tapas-style restolounge (how I hated typing that), offering several varieties of small plates, as well as mains.
We shared foie gras with truffle oil (outstanding, rich, knocked us out upon returning to the hotel room), white asparagus salad (fresh, but nothing exceptional), escargot (needed a saltier note... not enough parmesan), confit quail (the accompanying cucumber salad is outstanding, the quail was moist and tasty), and saganaki (aptly made, flambe'd at the table, with kelofatiri cheese).
We ordered a cucumber soup, which did not arrive, and we had to remind our server about the foie gras to end the meal. Quickly, the soup was taken off the bill and the server apologized for the missing foie, which arrived a few minutes later. Our server was very attentive and friendly, if a tad overwhelmed by the size of the dining room.
What's preventing Confusion from really hitting a homerun is its lack of focus. It's a mishmash of culinary and interior design ideas that come across as not being exactly welcoming and frankly, a tad pretentious. A refined menu (instead of the dozens of dishes on offer) and less kitsch (really, who wants to sit on a swing in a restaurant?) is needed. Sadly, it seems as if the proprietors know about this, seeing as the place is named Confusion.
I would like to come back, but I probably won't.
