| - I had a crown suddenly pop off while in Target last Friday. I had been looking for a new dentist due to a previous bad experience, so was in a bit of a panic - plus so many offices are closed on Fridays. I asked my husband to drive over to MacDonald Ranch Modern Dentistry, which is in the same parking lot, hoping they were open, that they accepted out insurance, and that they could help and re-cement the crown. Trifecta! They were open, could work me in, and was one of the places nearby that did accept our insurance. Jeff, who was at the front desk when I went in, was so friendly and really helped to calm me down (I was freaking out pretty badly - I already have Panic Disorder and was actually verging on a complete Anxiety Attack when we parked in front of the office) . I didn't have to wait long at all to be called back - they got me in so quickly. I have waited longer at other places when I have had an appointment! The first tech who took my initial X-rays was so nice, and chatted with me for a bit, continuing the calm my frayed nerves. I saw Dr Jessica Wu who was absolutely great. She explained everything in detail, and also told me that I actually needed a root canal as the crown had come off due to decay under the crown. She showed my husband what was going on under the crown - the tooth was a mess. Although they have an in-house Endodontist, I have one I already go to so will be seeing him, but the convenience of having a doctor there was noted, and if my Endo had not had an opening I would have likely used theirs. Dr Wu worked on my tooth a little to ready it to set a temporary crown. She was so patient. (I think they even stayed open a little longer for me.) Then her assistant, Jen, placed the temp crown, and honestly, my bite has been better in the last few days than it has been in over a year!
(A previous dental office had caused severe nerve damage in my mouth and face in September 2015, and messed up a lot of my teeth, so I am extremely afraid of dental visits now.)
Everyone at MacDonald Ranch Modern Dentistry - from the first Tech while taking X-rays, to the the Assistant Jen, and Dr Wu, all took care to be gentle as possible, especially due to the nerve condition in my face and mouth since I have chronic severe pain (Trigeminal Neuralgia.))
I almost wish I could keep this temporary crown as it has made a difference in the nerve pain even though that is primarily on the other side of my mouth - but my bite is PERFECT right now! Jen did an AMAZING job placing the temp and adjusting my bite! I see my Endodontist on Thursday, and will be returning to MacDonald Ranch Modern Dentistry later this month To see Dr Jessica Wu for my new crown (I could have come the same day as they do SAME DAY Crowns but I know my personal history and tend to swell up a little so the Endo likes me to wait to make sure all is well before I do the crown.) Even then the crown will be done the same day - no waiting weeks for it to come in.
Jeff explained all the different options of crowns I could get, how my insurance was working, everything.
Dr Jessica Wu was just wonderful, thorough, and so, so kind. This really makes going to the dentist so much easier. I am so glad we took a chance and stopped here. I am beyond pleased at this point, and my husband said he plans to switch to this office also. It is so hard to find a good dentist in this town, but I think I finally have!
The office was bright, extremely clean, and open, and updated. Everyone was so wonderful. So far, I am thrilled.
I will do a little update to this review once I go back for my crown later this month. But if you are looking for a dentist, I would definitely recommend MacDonald Ranch Modern Dentistry!
