  • I've had two good experiences with Five Star Moving and one horrible experience. The first time they were actually moving in someone from an old apartment and saw that I was moving out and they offered to help. It was just myself and my parents - and they were very grateful that they asked to help. They just moved some of my big furniture to my dads trailer, but it was the thought that counted, plus I now knew who they were in case I ever needed to hire movers. Also, after this incident, I had purchased a REALLY heavy dresser that I had in my garage that needed to be moved upstairs, but I had no way to do it. I called Craig and asked if he remembered me and if he could help. For $20 him and his wife came to help move the dresser in less than 15 minutes. 2nd incident was when I moved from a two-story house to an apartment that was upstairs. I had requested for them to come early in the morning since it was in July and I knew it would get hot that day. Three movers came and had everything moved in less than 2 hours. The guys that came were awesome and it was less than $200 to move me. I ended up tipping them just because they did it so fast and less than what I had expected. Third incident was the horrible one, which sucks to say, but it really bummed me out. My roommate and I at the time decided to move in to a three-bedroom apartment within the same apartment complex so that one of our friends could move in with us. We had moved majority of all the small stuff and just needed the big stuff moved. One of my coworkers heard me talk about FSM and told me there was a Living Social deal for 3 movers for 2 hours that was $88. I was like "Sweet! They moved me last time under 2 hours, including driving across fresno, for under $200 so I know this is a great deal!" Man, were we so wrong! The movers were nice when they got there, and my roommate and I stuck around for a while in case they had questions. We decided to walk to our new apartment to get more stuff put away. An hour goes by and still nothing.. 2 hours go by and I'm getting annoyed. So my (old and new) roommates walk over to the old apartment where they find one of the movers girlfriend hanging out with the movers. Once I heard about this, I could not believe how unprofessional they could be. Not only did they let her hang out with them or, so they say "bring them drinks" they had to have given her the gate code to get in. So as that happens, we are still waiting for them to come to the new place to bring our stuff. Finally they come and unload everything. After everything, it took them 4 hours! Besides the $88 we spent, we had to pay them an extra $200 + the Uhaul & gas, considering they didn't have to drive across Fresno, when I got the Uhaul bill I was pretty ticked off (I know they did not record the correct mileage, we moved about 300 feet). I also have a collection of wine which I boxed up for them to move. I had a total of about 5 cases and when I was putting the wine in my racks I noticed there were about 12 bottles missing. I asked my roommates if they had seen a case anywhere but there was nothing. We went over to the old apartment and sure enough, a case was sitting OUTSIDE at the BOTTOM of our staircase. I was livid; it was about $300 worth of wine that someone would have loved to get their hands on. When we called the owner to let him know what had happened with our experience, he had no remorse what-so-ever about our experience. I work in a business that if a client is not happy and they have a legit reason, we will give them a discount or some incentive. He just did not care and straight up said "there are three sides of the story, his side, your side and the truth." Also, to make matters worse, my dad was there that day and witnessed them as well. He even asked me if I wanted him to say something because he felt as if we were taken advantage of. Oh, and they used our bathrooms at the old apartment. Like take care of your business before you are on the job. They came 15 minutes early so maybe they should've done that then.
