| - What a great local business in the Tremont area! Tucked away on Professor Avenue, Ushabu offers up delicious (albeit a tad pricey) Japanese cuisine, including their take on the popular hotpot. The restaurant has a very intimate feel since it only seats about 20 people, possibly less. I went with the vegetarian hotpot (for fellow vegetarians, the miso broth contains chicken, so make sure to ask them for the vegan broth, which is delicious!). The food took a while to come out, but when it did, it was fresh and heavenly! The hotpot also came with a side of dipping sauces. The only suggestion I would have is to introduce something spicier, ie a chili oil broth that only gets spicier as it reduces. The chili oil side helps, but could definitely be incorporated into the broth for true thrill seekers.
The service is phenomenal, as the waiter took his time to explain the origin of each dish and the fact the Ushabu rotates regional dishes. He was also very friendly and took care of our every request. I'll definitely be back!
