| - It's 30 bucks for a mani/pedi here, which I saw on the sign outside while driving home from work. "Ok", I told myself "if there's a parking spot within the block, I'll go try it out." There was, so I did. I'm not usually one to try out a nail spot before hearing reviews, which I why I wish I had read up on them on Yelp before heading inside.
You definitely get what you pay for with this place. After choosing my polish, I sat in one of their chairs. The massage-chair controllers were wrapped in dirty saran-wrap which was my first clue about the general cleanliness of the place.
The actual pedicure was well done. She payed attention to my callused heels and cuticles, but I was worried about how clean her tools were the whole time. She finished up the pedicure with a foot and leg massage, which was unexpected (I thought I would be rushed out for sure) and was given paper slippers so I could walk over to the manicure table.
The manicure was done by the same girl. No chit-chat, just a quick (and I mean QUICK) no-frills buff and polish with some cuticle trimming. A hand massage followed, which I could have done without; the cream she used was really floral and bothered my nose. I would ask them not to use it if I ever go back.
This is definitely a two-stars kind of place, but I gave it three because I got what I expected. You can tell from the look of this place (and the price) that it is not going to be fancy, nor the most sterile. I'll go back if I find myself needing a quicky on a budget, but I think I'd rather spend an extra $10 - $15 and go somewhere I feel more comfortable and clean.
