| - My stars are only for our server and the food quality.
HORRIBLE Wait Time & Front Desk Staff: I called on our way to the restaurant to ask the wait time for 2 people. They said it would be about 30-40 minutes. They offered to take my call as "call ahead." I was under the impression that I would be added to the list and if my name got to the top and I still wasn't there, they'd still keep me on the list until I arrived. Anyways, we get there and I tell them I did a call ahead. They check my name, but said it would be another 30 minutes. From the time I called to when I arrived, about 20 minutes have passed. Since it was our first time trying the place, we ignored the additional wait time and just walked around San Tan Village. We were told that they would text us when our table was ready. We walked around San Tan for 40 minutes and still didn't get a text. We go back to the restaurant and notice there's less people standing around waiting for a table. The hostess tells us it will be another 30 minutes because they were waiting for larger parties to leave. Again, they said they would text us when our table was ready. At that point, we were beyond frustrated with the front desk staff. We decided to stand outside and talked about whether we should wait. The long wait time didn't bother us. We've waited 2 hours for only 2 people at popular restaurants in the past. We were frustrated because we were given false impressions. We wouldn't have minded if they had just told us from the beginning that it would be 1 hour - 1 hour and 30 minutes wait. The fact is that they misrepresented the wait time. About 10 minutes later (not 30 minutes), a hostess verbally calls out my name inside the restaurant, but I didn't hear because I was standing outside. She didn't even think to call outside or text us, like they said they would. As a guests was leaving, one of the hostesses recognized me and beckoned me because my table was ready.
Ambience: Walking through the restaurant, things seemed a bit cramp. I would prefer more distance between tables. The ambience was higher than casual, but less than classy. It was definitely more intimate and romantic.
When we finally sat down, the experience improved.
Service: Our server was great. I forgot to get her name, but she was polite and very patient. She never rushed us. She helped us in selecting our meal. She was very quick to refill our water and knew when to check up on us. We never felt like she ignored us at one point, like other restaurants.
Food: The food was amazing. I'm not sure how they make their food, but I barely tasted any preservatives in it. I could enjoy each taste/spice the chef added with every bite. The quality was definitely higher than anything from The Cheesecake Factory or other competitors. My boyfriend and I usually share an entree, since entrees are usually served in large portions and I can never finish them on my own. Brio has the right portion size: not to little, but not too much. I had just enough to feel content, but not bloated.
Price: It's definitely pricey for a dinner for two. They do have a course set meal, but we decided to do just one appetizer and two entrees. The bill was more than what we usually pay at other restaurants (since we usually order one entree), but I personally felt like the quality of the food and our waiter's service outweighed the price.
Overall, I am impressed with the restaurant and may return for only special occassions, due to the price. However, I will definitely make a reservation next time, rather than dealing with that mess with the front desk and ridiculous wait time.
