Let's start by admitting that there's nothing else like it in Cleveland. Old-school German classics, largely prepared from scratch. All the food is complemented by a dazzling beer list that's heavy on excellent German and Belgian drafts. Yes, the food is not quite as good as it was a few years ago and yes, the service can sometimes be as slow as the average walker-assisted patron, but the whole package is still pretty great. Besides, you can't beat the sensation of being in your granny's basement, surrounded by wood paneling and eating sauerbraten prepared in the classic style. The bar attached to the restaurant is an obvious beer-drinker's delight, and the store attached to that is full of German goodies. You can't make places like this anymore, and we should all cherish them while we have a chance.
