| - Found myself at a used bookstore, Plaza Books on Eastern in Green Valley. From the outside it looks like any other small business in a stripmall, I guessed it would be a small dusty space. Imagine my delight on walking in and seeing real wood! Carpets and books and wood and glass cabinets, oh my!!
The front reminds me of the library I wish I had, and the space is much larger than it looks from outside. As I go towards the back it becomes more of a warren, bookcases are packed into the space and everywhere I look are more books! The cases aren't as nice as the front, but no mistake - you can find lots of books!
Most little coves have that little stool, stand on it to reach those higher shelves or sit on it to really check out the bottom ones. Each section is clearly marked and they make sense, the owner is a reader, you can tell.
Books are alphabetical, yes there's one or two out of order but these shelves are in good shape. As I prowl the aisles I notice a lot of the paperbacks have a sticker on the spine that says signed. As I near the front I come across a large alcove packed with hard covers and the signed stickers seem to be everywhere!
I talk with Ann, and ask her if she hosts signings here? No but she does tell me where they happen here (big box store ) and also mentions a library that hosts them. I ask about libraries & she gives a thumbs up to one nearby. We talk about other bookstores and she tells me which are best for my genres, and gives me a flyer for local stores.
I like it, it's pretty clean, not dusty (big plus) there's room to sit & read. Ann is personable but not pushy, and even looked up an author for me.
