I went for the routine eye exam to receive a prescription for my contacts. Everything seemed fine. Wait times were short, the staff was courteous, and I was seen promptly by a doctor . While getting examined by the doctor, he said that since it was my first time I would have to pay a contact lens fitting fee which most/all should be covered under my insurance. While I should have made 100% sure this was the truth or asked how much the fee was, I didn't because I trusted the doctor. Upon checking out the lady at the front desk said my total was $89.25 and my insurance didn't cover it. $89.25 for a contact lens fitting fee?! Absolutely outrageous. I've had contacts for 15 years, visited many different eye specialists, and I've never been charged a contact lens fitting fee that nearly cost $100. Patients beware. This ruined the entire experience for me and I won't be returning in the future.
Edit: The next day I received a call from Joey who said that my insurance would cover the fitting fee, but I wouldn't be able to get as many contacts covered under my insurance. Either way you slice it, I'm out $90, but it was nice that someone followed up with me over the phone.
