| - Ok, there's somewhat of a über long story behind all this of me ending up at this wonderful florist today. I will try my best to keep it short...
After learning that the cakery, in which the cake for my birthday tomorrow is being made, needed me to go out and find the flower I had indicated in my very well drawn out cake design and bring it to them. Which is completely fine, I was like, I should be able to find this flower at anyplace, especially the non-franchised florist shops. I began my 35-minute long phone search for a single Echinacea purpurea, during my lecture-lab break. Sadly this search ended with me one, being late to lab, and two not finding the dang flower (Its a green flower, and obviously not many people know of these or carry them regularly).
This particular florist called me back, even though I left no message, apologized for their phones being down and apologized (just about all the florists apologized for this) for not having my single 'Green Envy' to top my cake. She said, do call her back if I changed my mind and wished for another flower. I huffed and puffed all class about not being able to get my flower, and "Fred" (one of our lab cadavers) got the elbow in the thoracic cavity from me, mostly because of my lack of sleep and me just not getting my way with the flower! I quietly apologize to whoever his living relatives may be and to "Fred" as well, I'm not a disrespectful person in any light.
After I escaped from the confines of the lab, I dashed off in the direction of my bakery in hopes of running into one of the florist I had called just to see what they did have. Alas, I ran into Garden of England first. I go in, explain myself as the crazy woman on the phone that must have this specific green flower for her birthday cake. Who I believe to be the manager, or owner of the shop, said it was no problem, and was willing to help me find a similar flower that would go just as well with my design, but it wouldn't be green. I took a deep breath, and when she walked out with this flower (Sorry, I forgot the name of it), I was put at ease and accepted it, even though it wasn't green. For $2.50, I figure it wasn't bad for such a large flower. Mind you, I don't go buying flowers in general so I have no clue. But happy with my purchase and the amount of time and effort this nice lady put into helping me find the right kind of flower, I went on to the baker. However next time I want a green flower(s), I'll know better to order it in advance!
