| - My transmission died on my truck shortly before Christmas and a co-worker of mine recommended this garage. First of all, I want to be fair and acknowledge that a transmission isn't a quick or easy fix. I get that. There were some issues, though, that led to this repair taking two whole weeks, which was a bit long for me to be without my vehicle. They misquoted me on the original estimate for a used transmission and the one they ended up actually needing for my vehicle was a bit more expensive but still cheaper than what the first garage I took it to was going to charge. Then there was the waiting game of getting the actual part. Then there was the issue of the transmission being replaced and them finding that there was a bracket they needed that was accidentally disposed of along with the old, bad transmission. Then there was the waiting game for THAT part to show up because none of the dealerships in town had it in stock. I'm a patient individual but this experience tested even my limits.
I think my biggest problem was some communication issues between myself and the garage. I was trying to get a general idea when the repairs would be done so I could figure out how long I might need my rental car. I was told on five or so different occasions, as all these set-backs transpired, that it was almost done and then, oops, it's going to be a little bit longer. The one that bugged me the most is when I was told Friday afternoon of the first week that it was on the verge of being done and to come on down and pick it up when I got off work. I returned my rental car and had a friend pick me up to take me to the garage and paid my bill when I got there. Was then told they were still working on it but it was almost done so I told the mechanic, in front of three other guys, that I was going to go wait at The Putters behind the building to wait for their call to let me know it was ready. An hour later, not having heard from them, I walk back over to the garage to find the place closed up, nobody there and my truck still on the hoist! WTF?? Called to yell at them the next morning and they acted like they had no idea where I went and said they tried to call me and that I didn't answer. I had my phone on me the entire time so I'm thinking someone was lying to me about that. So, after maxing out my credit cards paying the repair bill I had to wait another week for them to finish it and had to borrow a vehicle from my work to get around since I could no longer afford a rental car at this point.
Communication issues and long wait aside, the truck is fixed and running fine and I was happy that the overall cost was significantly less than what I was originally quoted elsewhere. Just wish that they'd kept me a little more in the loop with what the hold-up was getting my truck done, especially after I'd already paid for it. I might go back to them for smaller services. As for bigger repairs, unless my transmission goes out again before the warranty expires, I think I would rather take it somewhere else.
