| - Left the Golden Nugget after trying to extend my stay but they wanted $279 a night for a Thursday, didn't even ask what Friday and Saturday would be.
So I used Hotels.com and found El Cortez for $54.03 a night, resort fee is included in that amount. Basically 5 days here for one at the Nugget.
First impression of El Cortez was old school Vegas, and I mean that in a good way! Interior of the casino reminded me a bit of the old Horseshoe, just down Freemont.
Stayed in their cheapest room which worked fine, because when I'm by myself I only need a clean bed and a good shower. Pretty basic needs for me.
Noise at night goes on until well after midnight in the rooms over the casino, probably not an issue in the tower. The noise is primarily from the Container Park shopping center just a block away, and a number of bars.
No room service in the hotel, so I did get take out a couple of times to take back to the room. Both times from Siegal's 1941 restaurant. Burger and lasagna were both good, not great. To be fair when you put food in a plastic container and eat it 15-20 minutes later, you can't expect great things; that's on me though for not eating in the restaurant.
If you stay more than 7 days they charge you an extra $ 25 per day, have never heard of that one before. Guess it keeps people from moving in and living there. I left after 6 days.
Overall a good experience, I would definitely stay in the hotel again.
