| - We hadn't been to Mallorca for several years. We went back last night, a very slow winter Monday. The place was nearly empty , so we didn't experience the noisy, crowded place that you get on the weekend. The waiter didn't have to shout out the numerous dairy specials and we could actually have a reasonable conversation. We ordered the paella and chicken Mallorca, both of which were very good. The portions are huge and in addition they bring house made potato chips and steamed vegetables and bread. We took enough leftovers home for another dinner. The wine list was much improved from our last visit, with a good selection of domestic and imported varieties at reasonable prices. Deserts were the flan and creme brûlée, and although we consumed them both completely they were not notable. We did enjoy the complementary almond liquor. Service, obviously aided by the low turnout, was perfect. The menu is diverse and supplemented by numerous daily specials, so there is something for everyone, but if you need potatoes or are vegan you probably should stay away. Prices are reasonable, given the quality and large portion sizes. Overall it's a pretty legitimate Spanish/European restaurant, at least by Pittsburgh stands.
