Oh, what to say about Fear Farm... Well, I liked it. I had a lot of fun at this little seasonal cluster of haunted houses. I just didn't get scared. I don't really know what they were doing wrong because the had all the standard effects and themes you are used to seeing as well as some neat ones I hadn't come across before. **SPOILER ALERT!!! Read on at the risk of having a surprise ruined!** One thing they did that was new to me was to separate the men and women briefly in the Bunker X haunted house. A lot of couples attend events like this and that was a nice little surprise. **END SPOILER** I think that the problem may have been the scaring techniques. The staff seemed to depend heavily on the "get up in your face and be creepy" method. That doesn't really do much for me because I know that it is just some person in a mask. They should depend more on the "jump out from a dark corner or hidden door and scare you" method. That gets me every time! With or without costume! The actors definitely all tried their best though. The staff was great.
ONE thing I will say is to stay away from the hay ride. It costs extra money and is LAME! They don't even have bales of hay to sit on. You will be sitting on a filthy pile of hay on the floor of a stank farm cart that probably just had a load of hogs in it. I went to the bathroom when I got home from this event and when I got up there was hay in the toilet! How does that happen??? I don't remember stuffing my down my pants! In addition to the perils of the hay it is just NOT scary. They need to come with a little story for each stop along the way, stop the tractor, turn off the lights, and then do the little skit. Instead you just barrel through the corn field as the actors try to scare you while you drive by. Poorly done.
