It was good but not great to where I would drive out of my way to dine there again. Maybe happy hour when the prices are cut in half.
I came here twice in three days-- once for dinner the second for brunch. I'll start with dinner.
My boyfriend says I'm in too much of a rush, but I just felt like service was sooooo slow. I'm all for having a nice sit-down meal but I think the first impression should be that you're getting the ball rolling as soon as the guests sit down. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly with a side of mashed potatoes. The potatoes left little to be desired and were disappointing. My boyfriend had a filet cooked medium, but it came out medium well+. It was also really thin. When I think of a filet I think of a small but thick cut-- this one was simply flat. For dessert we ordered the apple tart which was underwhelming. We expected more of a crust which is usually the star, but there was hardly any which made us both pick at the apples and leave it alone.
On to brunch. My latte took a while to come out, and a left it unfinished which I can honestly say I've never done to a cup of coffee/espresso before. There was hardly any foam or steamed milk. The chicken & waffles were weird. The waffle is a cornmeal waffle (not expressed in the menu or else I wouldn't have ordered it) and it comes loaded with gravy. It was good, but not what you think of when ordering this particular dish. My boyfriend's eggs Benedict was so tiny. I'm not looking for American super-sized portions, but everything comes out meek and disappointing. Our dirty plates sat in front of us for a while before they were cleared.
The salmon was so good, and there were so many other desserts that sounded fantastic, that I think I need to give this place another chance before I decided whether or not this is going to be a regular place I visit.
