My son was really upset up from getting hurt from a bigger kid on the school playground. My son is in 1st grade and I brought my 9 year old daughter as well. We had already stopped by the Urgent care down the road on Siena Heights because this is where I have gone for the past 10 years and my insurance was accepted there. I forgot that my insurance changed last year and didn't realize it was no longer accepted at that location. I was a bit panicked at first because I didn't want to have to go to an unfamiliar place with my son's injury, but they recommended CareNow down the street. It was a weekday evening so I was surprised that the wait was only about 20 minutes. I am glad that they had a TV in the lobby and it was playing the original Jumanji to occupy the kids while I filled out the appropriate paperwork. Dr. Brian Shrawder saw my son and he was very patient with him telling the story of how he got hurt. He even gave my son a fist bump for being brave. It is always nice to have someone that the kids feel comfortable with. I felt my son needed an X-ray so I was glad they ordered it. The X-ray Technician explained the whole process and let my son see his X-rays (his picture). She also explained what he was looking at in his picture. I work as an Engineer in the Radiation therapy field so the kids always have lots of questions. It was a very pleasant experience and we left knowing nothing was broken. I am glad to know that it is available in the event we are in need of urgent care. One thing that was a bit odd was that my payment was not taken at the time of the visit. I like to pay it before they mail it because I use a flexible spending card so I went back the next day. This was a bit unconventional to me, but oh well.
