I stayed here because I won the Hotwire lottery, but I would be more than happy to return any ol' time.
Our plan was to visit the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, then swing north and drop by the Rock and Roll Hall in Cleveland. I wanted a place that would be cheap and yet convenient. La Quinta certainly met that criteria, but it turned out to be a whole lot better than that!
At first I was disappointed to learn that the location was south of Cleveland in the suburbs of Independence. But what at first blush appeared an inconvenience became a real-world godsend when we were able to check in after Canton and could shower and rest up before our jaunt downtown.
The receptionist was warm and inviting, even calling up to check if we were okay (we were). It turned out to be no more than a ten-minute drive into the city with Garmin leading the way, though you have to add some extra to include navigating the area around the museum and for parking (more in an accompanying review).
This was surely a strategic stop. If you are looking for a clean, restful bed at a decent price and are willing to be situated outside of downtown, you can't ask for much better than the La Quinta Inn. A hot breakfast, free wifi, free parking... all the little things that make you feel like you're getting your money's worth.
Keep them in mind, especially if you find yourself traveling north from Canton like we did. It just might be the break you're looking for!
