  • Why can't Michael's come to Hawaii? Answer: Because doing business in Hawaii costs mega-bucks, although I suspect Michael's would make a killing because all we locals have is Wal-Mart, ordering online via Amazon.com or having to frequent Ben Franklin Crafts, which has limited amounts of stuff in tight cramped aisles and is double or triple the price of Wal-Mart and Amazon. I was determined to visit Michael's because the crafter in me would have nagged and nagged if I didn't make the drive from my Summerlin hotel to come here. Compared to Oahu craft stores, this Michael's was pretty large. It's even bigger than the Michael's I used to frequent in Orange County California: nice selection of beads, baubles, stickers, scrap booking stuff, art supplies, frames, fake flowers, etc etc. It's just pricey, but still way cheaper than our local Ben Franklin, which I avoid due to highway robbery. The checkout was fast and the cashieer was super-friendly (wish I could remember her name). I chose this Michael's location because it was the closest to The Red Rock Casino and Resort, where I was staying. I'll gladly come here again in the future when I'm visiting Las Vegas!
