  • Tried Northway Car Wash (NCW) because it's close to where we live and we have Entertainment coupons for half off the $16.50 Ultimate Wash. I'd hoped this could be our go-to car wash, but based on our recent first experience here I'm far from being a believer. The Ultimate Wash is NCW's most expensive wash, and according to the company's website the Ultimate Wash consists of the following: * regular wash * undercarriage wash * Rain-X complete surface protectant * triple foam polish * towel dry * choice of air freshener, window wipe, or ArmourAll pad Also paid an extra $4 for the Wheel Deal, which includes "tire shine" and "wheel brightener." Tires and wheels are some of the most important aspects of a car wash, at least from an aesthetic standpoint. Clean tires and clean wheels really make a vehicle look...clean! I was less than thrilled that the Wheel Deal was not included with NCW's priciest wash, and suffice it to say I was pissed when, after paying an extra $4 for the Wheel Deal, my vehicle's wheels still looked grungy post-wash. Frankly, the results of the Ultimate Wash looked like any run-of-the-mill $7.99 wash, the kind of quick wash you get every week or two during the winter just to get most of the salt off. I'm appalled that what we received was the result of $20.50 worth of services. Maybe NCW doesn't have wheel brushes? In any event though, you'd think that for the Ultimate Wash they'd clean by hand what the automatic wash missed. The area where the windshield meets the roof was also dirty post-wash. I guess I should list the few positives too. Let's see. The towel guys did a satisfactory job, no window streaks. It's also nice that handheld vacuums are available for free use; however, I think a quick floor mat vacuum and dash wipedown should be included in the total cost of the Ultimate Wash. Are my expectations too high? Was my previous go-to car wash, the one I visited about every 2 weeks for over 6 years prior to moving, just THAT good? There I always chose the Deluxe Wash for $11.50; I got a whole lot more for a whole lot less. The "Ultimate Wash" here is as silly as the "Resort-Style Living" sign outside my completely average apartment complex. What a joke. How about some standards, Northway Car Wash? Oh, and one more thing. My Entertainment coupon book also has coupons for Jerry's Car Wash on Route 19. I had planned to go there next, but after learning that NCW and Jerry's are sister companies, I think I'll pass.
