| - A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and had an extremely hard time walking. After trying several things, such as acupuncture and physical therapy, to get movement back into my joints, I joined a gym and eventually quit. About 6 months ago, I joined a yoga studio that I love and I now go at least 5x per week, but I wanted to add something new to my workout. I purchased a Groupon to try Function Pilates - great idea! For my 1st class, I was actually the only participant, so I received one-on-one instruction with Shelly. Because she knew that I actively practiced yoga, she challenged me in the workout. The movements were not hard, but I could definitely feel how my muscles were strengthening and lengthening in a different way. I have taken classes with 2 other instructors, Vanessa and Emily, as well and they were also very helpful and got me to feel muscles that I didn't know I had! The instructors don't push you beyond your limits and help make adjustments based on your own body's needs. The classes have a 3:1 ratio, so you definitely get the attention you need to ensure you are working out properly. At the end of each class, I'm surprised at how quickly the time goes!
