This park is amazingly beautiful. I have been sledding and hiking here for years. When I used to live close by my family and I would hike down to Elver and watch the fireworks. Unfortunately they do not have fireworks here anymore but it is still a fun place to go. In the summer there are so many activities to do here. The big community building on the side of Elver is a nice addition they made awhile ago. You can go inside and sit at the table to have lunch. There is also another eating area by the playground.
There are tennis courts that are usually open and the play ground is great for kids. There is also some baseball diamonds if you go farther up the hill and take a nice walk over to them. Basketball courts also line the side if you go far enough. There is a disc golf as well which is awesome! There are also so many trails along the back. I usually walk them from the far back of Elver where the soccer fields are and they lead down to the park. There is usually only a few other people you see while on this walk. The trees line the sides of your walk and you hear the birds chirping.
In the winter you can check out the amazing sledding hill. This is one that I trekked up and down every winter as a kid. This is usually where most of the traffic comes from. In the summer the UW-Madison athletes run up and down this hill so that is fun to see. Overall this is a fun adventure anytime of the year. I recommend just walking in the woods and you will find a trail to walk on. You can really get away from the "city" life a little bit here.
