  • My boyfriend and I went here on Memorial Day in an attempt to do something different and fun with our day off. We were not disappointed! The entire experience was seamless. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted and lead towards the axe-throwing "arena" to meet our "Axepert" to guide us through the experience. We started by learning the rules and choosing our axe names and landed on "Kick Axe Katrina" and "Danger Dan." Then we learned two different types of techniques for throwing our axe and had time to practice each. Next, our "axepert" guided us through a series of games like Tic Tac Toe, etc. before finally crowning a winning Lumberlord or Lumberlady. For us, the experience took about 45 minutes. However, we were a group of 2. There is a set itinerary that you follow, which can take up to 90 minutes if your group is larger. I felt that 45 minutes worked perfectly for us, but maybe could have gone for 5-10 more minutes of just throwing the axe without any games, etc. Our axepert was named "Sassy Axe" and was amazing! She was super friendly and bubbly and really lead us through the whole event. She joked with us and made us feel comfortable as if she was just another friend in our lane. She also was very helpful. It took a few throws to get used to it and even then was sometimes challenging (but always fun!) She watched our form and helped give us tips to increase our chances of hitting the board. But her friendly and fun personality was really what made her stand out. Another fun plus is that they take photos of you while you're throwing and some posed photos after and post them to Facebook for you. I definitely wanted pictures from such a unique activity and was glad they made it so easy. The only down-side is that I don't think enough people know about it! They've been open for some time and I had no idea they were there. We definitely want to go back!
