  • 4.5 stars, will return in the future to try more dishes before deciding whether to bump up the rating to the full 5 stars. Finally tried Oyster Bar after being recommended by multiple people. My senior resident and I decided we would go on Friday morning after a long week of night shifts, and we finally made it over! It was a strategic decision as well since at 7AM on a Friday morning, there is very minimal wait time. This (original) location is inside Palace Station casino, and it is literally a bar with just a handful of seats. Right when we sat down, we were given glasses of ice water and a warm sourdough roll. Service throughout was prompt and attentive. One of the cooks kept joking with us (they like to tease newbies/Oyster Bar virgins like me). My senior resident (who has been multiple times) insisted that I had to try the combo pan roast, so I did. They have a really nifty cooking vessel for preparing dishes and while our dishes were not prepared right in front of us, we got to see other orders prepared in front of us. The combo pan roast is this really rich, flavorful dish of shrimp, crab, and lobster in a brandy, tomato, and cream sauce. You pick a spice level from 1 to 10, and I picked 4, which had good heat without feeling too spicy (I can't imagine what 10 is like though). The dishes costs over $20, but there is a good amount of fresh seafood and is a fairly large bowl. It is served with a bowl of steamed white rice and you are given a gigantic spoon to eat with. I loved that this dish came out piping hot, and quickly devoured it all. Amazing flavors and good texture of the seafood. Wasn't wowed enough to give five stars, but there are so many other tasty things on the menu that I will have to come back, especially to try an actual oyster!
