  • This review is for the office policy. My husband was sent for a pre-op cardiac clearance--a consult, nothing more. Check-in was efficient, staff was friendly. The problem started with the P.A. She wanted all of Ken's previous records. I told her that he was not a patient and was not going to be a patient--he only needed the doctor to clear him for surgery. This "disagreement" went on for about 15 minutes. When Dr. Patel came in, there was no problem. He understood the reason we were there--gave Ken an exam and cleared him. A week later, we received a letter stating that Ken had a follow-up appointment for 6 months. I talked to 3 different people trying to get to the office manager--never did. They just kept moving me from one person to another. I finally gave up and made sure that the appointment had been canceled. Finally, a man called me back--I told him that Ken was not a patient and would not be a patient since he has no cardiac problems. He told me that once someone comes in, that person is considered a patient --that is their policy. He said that Dr. Patel wrote the order for the follow-up. I said that I would be surprised if that were true since Dr. Patel knew exactly why my husband was there. I said that it was probably the P.A. and he agreed that it had been the P.A. who wrote the order. I asked him how they could justify making Ken a patient without discussing it with the patient--he replied that that is their policy, they don't discuss, they just do. I told him that was tantamount to ambulance chasing. Then he asked if I would like to speak to the manager. I refused because of the "policy" and I had already talked to 4 different people. Bottom line, although we liked Dr. Patel and his demeanor, we will never go back because of the "policy" of creating patients.
