| - I'm a huge collector of things when I travel. One of the things my BF and I like to do when travelling is to collect pint glasses from various breweries we visit. Although I came to Madison sans BF for a work trip, I found Great Dane Pub and wanted to snag another glass for our modest (but growing!) collection.
My friend and I came here after dinner to grab a few drinks, try the beer, and possibly grab a glass. It all goes downhill from here.
The place was pretty crowded for a weeknight, but we found two seats at the bar. The bartenders here are literally the most blah bartenders I've ever encountered. I think workers at McDonalds are happier. There's quite a bit to choose from on tap, and there's a board showing the name of each beer they have. Since we were kind far away from the board (ugh, my granny eyes couldn't see) I asked the bartender what was on special hoping she'd be able to give us some recommendations. All I got was, "you can read the board to see what we have". Um, OK then.
I decided to get a sampler, which was nice because you can choose the amount of beers you try and which ones. I got 4, and honestly, all of them were so blah that none of them were particularly special to me so I don't remember the names of which ones I tried. They were sour and old tasting, and seemed very watered down which is ironic and a little embarrassing if Great Dane brews their own.
The entire ordeal was just so blah and unremarkable to me that I ultimately decided to forego buying a pint glass. It was an experience I'd rather have a momento of.
