| - For my mother's birthday I let her choose a show & took her out for a night on the strip. She chose Jubilee because we had never seen any classic Vegas-y type show before. Plus the show is sadly closing in February so we wanted make sure we saw it before then. I got us V.I.P. tickets.
The box office is very close to the theater so it was very easy picking up the tickets. Before the show I got asked if I was 18+ (lol thanks! I'm 24) but I wondered if it was really necessary since when I picked up my tickets I was I.D.ed.... Another thing about the ageism... there was a little concession stand selling popcorn & drinks. I asked for a water & the guy said, "I still need to see your I.D. as this is a bar." He was polite & that's fine & all but I was a bit baffled by that comment. So the 18 - 20 year olds attending the show aren't allowed to buy popcorn or water because "it's a bar?" Unusual.
We were seated & I was happy that I got V.I.P. tickets because we had a decent view of the stage. I was excited & the show started right on time. The seats next to me were empty & I thought JACKPOT finally I will not have to worry about some jerk talking through the show because I always have the worst luck, maybe my luck had changed!!! My thoughts came too soon because during the first set they actually allowed late comers in. I can't stand this sort of thing because it's disrespectful to all of us who come on time & paid a lot of money to enjoy the show without interruptions like this. On top of being late they were taking pix which is not allowed & worst of all they were speaking at the top of their lungs. Always... WHY ME. Usually I wouldn't say anything but I paid $220 for our tickets so I was not going to sit & listen to someone speak at the top of their lungs when I'm here to enjoy the show. I had to tell them to SHH, firmly but as nicely as possible. I really don't want to have to do that you know? Luckily he apologized for the talking & I didn't hear TOO much from then afterwards but I missed a lot of the first bit because of all of the distraction they caused. I do appreciate the apology because I know some people don't realize how freaking loud they are until they are told but as an adult it's just common sense to stfu during a show. Does no one have class anymore?
That aside let's talk about the show -- SPOILER ALERT--
It was a beautiful & tasteful performance from everyone. Yes it's a topless show but it wasn't dirty at all. The ladies had gorgeous bodies. Long legs, cute faces, fit bods, & perky lovely breasts, I envy!!!! The dancing was very professional & on point. Singers had pipes on em'. I enjoyed the different performances throughout. I have a lot of respect for these people because it takes a lot to bare it all, plus have various talents, plus those outfits have to be heavy. Walking down those stairs in heels & heavy outfits without looking at the ground.. impressive. A lot of pressure & dedication I imagine. Seeing people put their heart into a performance really makes my heart feel good & I felt it last night. That's why I love shows.
I was also really surprised by how modern the show was. It was nothing like I had expected. There was a little bit of everything from the classic stuff, singing, dancing, ballet, hip hop, tap, etcetc. Great variety. The only down fall of variety is that the show really lacks a theme... & I love a good theme. I kept wondering what the theme of the show was only to realize there really wasn't one that I could find. But I mean I can deal with that if the show is entertaining.
The one thing that I really didn't like about the show was the use of the Titanic in the show. I enjoyed the performance with the twin(?) gals & also the intro with the funny hip hop guys but having the sinking ship & using the tragedy as kind of a comedic performance was distasteful. While the production of the ship sinking was beautiful it didn't make me feel good... I felt like I was watching something inappropriate. Then it felt even cheesier when Lady Liberty popped up & all of a sudden we are meant to feel very American. That to me was tacky. I'm here to have fun not to be reminded of the loss of 1,503 people. Minus the sinking ship & Lady Liberty moment everything else was great. We had such a great time that I even bought one of those overpriced photos at the end for my mother. We never do this but go big or go home for the woman who gave birth to me.
We have a blast & we talked about the show for a long time after it was over. It's hard to get my mom to have a good time because she has high standards so I was surprised that I finally got a good reaction out of her. Bravo to all of the performers & thanks for making her bday a success!!!
Recommend so see it before it's gone!!!
