Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE stationary. It is one of my favorite things to buy. We wanted to start looking at invitation suites a bit earlier than necessary to get an idea of what we were looking for. I wanted our first stop to be Nota Bene since we are from the area and have always passed by the store. I would much rather give my money to a local business and pay a little extra than to a large corporation. I brought in pictures of suites I liked for inspiration and wanted to look through the selection that Nota Bene had.
As we looked through the books of samples, the woman helping us just sat there and stared at us as we looked at each one. It was very uncomfortable to voice opinions and talk to each other about what we liked and didn't like. I wish she would have given us some time alone to look through the books and discuss. Had she have given us this time together, it would have made it much easier for us to get an idea of what each of us really liked and what we didn't want. When we weren't exactly finding something we absolutely loved and had to have, she seemed to get flustered by us and at one point rudely told me that if I liked the suites I found online, I might as well just order them from the large websites. An owner of a small business was telling me to spend my money elsewhere. From then on, the rest of the appointment was very uncomfortable and after looking for a bit more she abrasively suggested that we stop looking and come back when we had a better idea of what we wanted. That was the whole purpose of us coming there and starting early to look at invitations- to get an idea of what we wanted! I even brought pictures of what I liked. I was fighting back tears as we left the store. I had been looking forward to this appointment so much since booking it, and what was supposed to be an exciting wedding planning step turned into a shockingly negative and upsetting experience.
