| - I have been working out at this particular LA Fitness for a few months now. I wouldn't say it's the best gym that I have ever been to, but it's not the worst either. It gets the job done for people who just like to get in, work out, and go. I would say that the most annoying thing about this gym is that they are ALWAYS busy, but I can't really complain about that because I have never been a member of any gym that wasn't busy in metropolitan Phoenix.
I would say that they could definitely improve on cleanliness, in the locker rooms and the gym floor, i.e. cardio equipment, but it is not bad enough that I wouldn't work out here, since I do not use the locker rooms. I also wish that they had better hours. I have only ever worked out at gyms open 24 hours prior to this one, so I never had to worry about making sure they would be open and checking hours. But it is very inconvenient that they do not open until 7am on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend is when people are off from work and have more time with their day to go to the gym, and being as though I am a morning gym goer, I find it frustrating that they open so late. They should definitely consider opening at 5 or at LEAST 6am on weekends, especially when they are constantly busy and have as many members as they do. In addition, the parking is kind of an issue here, because they do have so many members, but if there isn't any parking in their lot, I just park in the Peter Piper lot next door.
The only other thing that I think they could improve on that would make not only this gym, but all LA Fitnesses better for members, would be to tone it down just a little bit on the personal training "used car salesman like" sales tactics. They are constantly handing out guest passes to members at the front door and I always see one of the female trainers at the front at a tent kiosk trying to convince people to do a body fat test or something like that with her. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have never actually seen this particular trainer actually training, I only ever see her trying to sell someone something...They will do anything they can do to get as many members as possible. It's just a little much for a gym that is so over crowded already.
All in all, decent gym and works for me, however, I wouldn't be heartbroken if I ever moved out of the neighborhood and had to find a new place.
