| - This was my second time visiting this restaurant. I had previously tried their winterlicious lunch menu last year, and I really enjoyed it that time. The menu was more creative, and so was the presentation.
This place is pretty upscale, as the decor is flashy but pretty. You get to sit on couches or chairs depending on your side of the table. There's also a second floor above the bar. I like the decor and atmosphere of the place, but I wish it was a little brighter.
The service was great. Our server took care of us all night, and constantly checked up on us. She was super friendly and made us feel like she cared. She was also very informative about the restaurant and its menu.
The winterlicious menu I had this time was priced at $48 a person before tax and tips. I also ordered sparkling water so that was an extra $7 on top. I began with the smoked salmon, then moved on to the steak, and finally, I finished with the sticky carrot and bourbon caramel pudding. The meal was pretty standard. The flavours were light and well-balanced, but it wasn't anything special. The smoked salmon came with pieces of crostini to pair with. The steak had two cuts of the cow -- short rib and tenderloin. It was well-cooked, but again, nothing outstanding. It came with a side of sweet potato and deep-fried ochre. By dessert time, I was already full, and the dessert was quite sweet. I don't have much of a sweet tooth for caramel, so I decided to take a few bites. The meal ended with 2 jelly-like pieces of candy. They were a little tangy and sweet, so it was a nice finish while we paid for our bill.
I had a pleasant experience, but I wasn't impressed by the menu. I had originally decided to come back because of the lunch I had last year, but the originality has gone down. I recommend this for special occasions, but I won't be coming back anytime soon. Also, in the summertime, you can catch the view from the terrace, which is quite nice.
