| - I came in February 2015 to have my hair cut. I loved the cut and the person who did it. She was sweet and we had some really good conversations (Stephanie). Things went really downhill after the cut. I made a follow up appointment for two months when I was checking out and requested a courtesy card, but the fellow (I think he was some kind of manager) said I wouldn't need it because they would call me AND text me. I reiterated I'd like the card, because I don't remember personal stuff for myself again he declined saying I didn't need it. Oookkk...Then they were advertising an eye-shadow compact available for December/January/February birthdays, since my birthday's in January, he had me show my ID to verify then promptly told me they were out. Could I get one when they were restocked? No, they probably wouldn't restock the gift compacts. Then the coupon didn't work and didn't work and didn't work. By now I was just irritated, upset and angry and told him to forget the coupon, I'd write to corporate and ask for a credit. That didn't even faze him. If I was doing something incorrectly and was told a customer was going to go to my boss, I would pay attention, but he was visibly relieved not to have to deal with the coupon any longer. I left, very unimpressed with the store and the check out manager, but steadfast in my resolution to come back in two months. Upon arriving home I wrote to Ulta corporate and sung Stephanie's, while explaining my disappointment in the front office person and the whole coupon/birthday gift debacle. They sent me the eye shadow and a $25.00 gift card within a week so good on them and the eye shadow is beautiful, I would have paid for it. Well, May rolls around and I'm wondering "when was my appointment at Ulta? I should know since they were going to call me AND text me" when lo and behold my phone rings and it's the friendly Mr. up-front store Manager to tell me I missed my appointment. I said I hadn't received a reminder call or text and he tells me that they don't call for appointments, they only call if you miss your appointment, and I had been sent two texts. I checked my phone, Nope no texts from Ulta, he said "Well we might be having a problem with how the new software is set up, I've been getting a lot of that kind of feedback" So unfortunately I told him to forget the whole thing. I was reading another review where they said Ulta personnel were following them around so closely she thought it was race related, I felt the same way, but in an ageism kind of way. Like that was why I wanted to use the coupon (I never use coupons, I don't but come on $25.00 is $25.00!), and maybe I wouldn't have tipped the correct amount if he took $25.00 off my bill, and the birthday eye-shadow thing really bothered me, and that maybe I don't "get" this new fangled text messaging thing that kids are doing these days. I'm 55, but the reality is I'm a Director in a telecommunications company and have been doing text messaging before he was probably irritating customers at his first job! Ulta Corporate was great, Stephanie was great , but I'm not going back there.
