| - Had a Mom-Daughter day at the spa and was looking forward to it since it's a once a year deal. Massage, facial and pedicure. They were able to fit us in last minute - a plus! Now I'll break it down to each of the experiences.
Massage - first off - please don't wear flip-flop type shoes if you are massaging - the constant noise interupts what should be quiet bliss. Secondly, make sure the headrest is secure! My neck went flying forward when we started on my back - just a jolt - but dammit I'm trying to relax! The massage itself was great (minus the flip-flops and neck incident) - got the combo and technique wise was very good.
Facial - probably the best experience. Fell asleep (always a good sign), skin felt amazing and still does (no post breakouts like some). Only one drawback - was asked if I wanted an eye or lip treatment and thought it was part of the package - never told it was an extra $15 - so a bit of a surprise at the check out.
Pedicure - great. Loved looking out the windows as the world whizzed by while I was getting pampered. A bit pricey, but with the whole package deal and the specialness of the occasion - worth it.
Some more cons - after you shower off from getting greased up - there's no place to get yourself ready for the rest of the day. One sink, no hair dryers, no place to put on makeup. Ah, but they have an answer for you - they will do a complimentary blow dry and makeup application downstairs. We know better - nothing is complimentary - unless you are a total cad and won't tip them for thier service.
The pros - clean, relaxing and private, great showers, dressing rooms and ambiance, plenty to drink and keep you hydrated, friendly and knowledgeable staff who never pushed buying the "recommendations."
Bottom line - wait for the specials that come out in the paper or on the spa girls website. For the once a year pampering I get w/mom, don't think I would go back - about the same price for not as many ammenities - unless they had a promotional deal.
