  • We were at a swim meet hosted at ASU. I was distressed by the quality of the cafes near the aquatics center. I needed to find better places. Checking Yelp, I landed on Cartel. It's great! It's tucked away in a nondescript, not-so-grand strip mall. I was hesitant to go in. But, the inside is hip and and has a great feel. Most of the patrons seemed to be regulars, and the flow of road cyclists affirmed the local support. They have choices on method: Aeropress, Chemex, Hario and perhaps others. Plus, they had about 6 bean choices. About $4 for the Hario, and the coffee was excellent. Two thumbs up for Cartel. This will be my go-to place in the Tempe area.
