  • Once upon a time, when I heard the word "office," the only good association would be with the show The Office. I mean their environment was a bit drab, but it was the feel good nature of the show that made me associate being in an office with something positive. GCC - not a community college - the Galleria Corporate Centre, pulled a change of thinking on me on par with the disapproving of the flat earth hypothesis. When you walk inside here, you are bathed in light. Like Jesus taking his first step out of the cave once he has arisen. I mean, you know you're in a positive environment when the Welcome Center for a city is at the entrance. There are quite a few different offices located in the building, and from each suite I encountered, each is clean and well organized. Shout out to the janitorial, architectural, and construction crews. Keep it up the good work fam. They've got a pretty dope offering of eats also. There was once a Russian place that served coffee and sandwiches. They were always so nice, but their espresso shots tasted like what I imagine World War 2 Vodka made from rubbing alcohol would taste like. But would still hit it up cause they had other stuff. Now there is a Commoncy inside that offers some really good eats and exceptional service. Only drawback is that sometimes that getting your coffee takes as long as it took for the last Ice Age to end. But we humans have overcome worse, so this is easily solved by just going at a time that isn't busy...most of the time. The communal area is a blend of high-end boxing gym and a San-Francisco lawyer office. There's a real 500 Days of Summer ending office feel there. A lot of leather chairs and a dummy to beat upon if you got some pent up aggression or just weren't hugged enough as a child. Though, there will be plenty of chairs for you and your homies to chill during lunch or if you wanna just grab a quick chill sesh. Also, for the dummy, I don't recommend doing physical violence an office setting. This is by far the best of the best office spaces I've been in, but there is one drawback. A drawback that I believe a sin upon humanity. A blight upon existence itself. Something that generations will look at with horror. They have been remodeling the building, which is cool. But there are, I imagine, hundreds of people that work in the building...yet there are maybe 6 bathrooms with at most 20 to 30 stalls in total. Maybe there are hidden bathrooms, but this ain't Indiana Jones trying to find the Holy Grail. Getting a free stall when you need to go, or when you had too many $1 tacos, required you be Indiana Jones while also having the genius of the escapees from the movie Escape from Alcatraz. I know there are other bathrooms, but come on, we don't have 15 minutes to go and find a stall. This is a major drawback and I hope to god it's rectified one day. Everything considered though, there can't really be haters in this building. You may not be too enthused with your job itself, but the building itself is really dope. Every office building (except for the bathrooms) should be modeled after this.
