I called J-Levine blind after doing an internet search for local auction houses. An appraiser - Amy, came out to my house and checked out a liquor cabinet I wanted to auction off for a charity. She gave me a quick idea of a value - which matched the research I did online, so I signed a contract and told her I would bring it in to avoid the pickup fee. Over the next couple weeks I did not make things easy for Amy - I got busy, told her I was bringing it in and didn't, asked more questions, and even brought more items in to get appraised which turned out not to be worth much. Amy was cheerful, professional and courteous every step of the way. This was my first time ever using a professional auction house as a seller - but I have used services like this as a buyer. I only sold one piece - and I had done my research. I also had a tag telling me the name of the furniture manufacturer - which made it easier. Information is always the key in sales like this - and I was lucky to have lots of that. In the end - it sold for the high end of an estimate and I was very happy with the price and the treatment I received. 4 stars is a high rating for me. I can't give 5 because it is my first time using them and I had to sign a second contract and had some confusion regarding that. But it's my own fault - I had the first contract and never brought it in signed.
