  • Fast Fix replaced the LCD/Digitizer on my 4th generation Ipod Touch the evening of May 15. When I picked the Ipod up, after the repair, I quickly tested the screen. It worked fine and I was on my way. Once home I looked closer at the repair to find the new screen was not installed flush to the bezel. At the bottom end of the ipod the new screen sat significantly above the bezel. The home button was also not flush with the screen as it had sunk to take its proper position on the board. I unfortunately could not follow through with a proper complaint, given I am from out of town and was leaving the next day. Regardless, the repair was not perfect and Fast Fix did not take the time to offer an explanation for why the screen was not set properly. They hoped I wouldn't notice or take the time to speak to them. At this point I wasn't overly annoyed. The new screen did work and from what I knew this might have been a common occurrence when replacing a screen on an Ipod. However, today the Ipod took a minor spill and the new screen cracked. I am quite certain that because the new screen was raised, it was more susceptible to cracking. Any trauma on the lower front portion of the Ipod would be taken fully by the exposed edge of the screen. The bezel would not offer its regular protection that it would on a screen that was set flush. At this point I am annoyed, but certainly not to the level of taking the time to write a review of this magnitude. I decided, I would replace the screen myself this time. I sourced a new LCD/Digitizer for $30 online and researched the process of replacing an Ipod screen. I watched several Youtube videos on the process and now consider myself an expert on the topic (relative to Fast Fix anyways). After removing the broken screen, it was clear why Fast Fix was unable to set their new screen flush to the bezel. Fast fix did not remove the protective backing of the new LCD/Digitizer before final installation. Anyone who is an expert on such repairs would know this protective layer needs to be removed. Why? So the new LCD/Digitizer will sit flush with the bezel! What a waste of time and money dealing with Fast Fix.
